    Random reboots

Can anyone tell me what the cause of random reboots would be? They don't happen very often, but are annoying when they do, especially when I'm in the middle of something.

My system specs are as in my signature below.

Could it be a short in the mobo, ram, or power supply?

    Thanks,

What kind of PSU do you have and how many watts is it? Also, do you have any means of monitoring your PSU's rails and system temps?

Could be a number of things. First thing I'd do, is get rid of that overclock. Check system temperatures, check voltage rails. Also, since you're on XP, go to control panel, system, advanced tab, startup and security settings button, and under system failure uncheck automatically reboot. Next time it reboots, it will give you a blue screen, get the number that the screen gives you, go to the Microsoft Knowledge database, and type it in, see what the problem is.
XPS 400, quit the comp. scene. My new toy:

I forgot to change it in the sig, but I did stop the overclock on both the processor and the video card for now.

My PS is a non-named brand 300W PS (I'm at work so I don't know the exact name). I don't know how to monitor it.

I'll make the changes to Win XP that were mentioned. I haven't been able to find a rhyme or reason to when the reboot occurs except that it seems to be more common when I close a window (especially IE).

I'll post here what I find. In the meantime, any other suggestions or comments would be welcomed.

I think if you want to go back to the OC spped you are going to have to have a good quality PSU uint.
