Exclamation Video driver for an Evesam pc (P1/P2 cpu)

    Hi,

can anyone suggest a video driver that would push an onboard video connection higher than 16 colours for an Evesham PC (no, other specific details on machine apart from Evesham). So far have been unsuccesfull in my attempts, plus the video configuration properties dont seem to let you suggest a location for any drivers you may want it to point to, which has lead my to use *.exe files on attempts. The cpu (at recolection)is a P1 chip. Pc is running Windows 2000, (and being an Evesham PC, is very fussy!, -as I've found most eveshams to be!)
The only specifics I could find inside the pc were labeled on two chips and also the motherboard S/N below:

    Chip 1: Via Vt82C686B (0215CD13C7K1353)
    Chip 2: ADMtek AN983B
    Motherboard S/N: M6378x-L0205066252

Please post reply here or to Pete.Ramsay@brunel.ac.uk referencing my login name (Pete_201) and or the subject of this posting 'Video driver for an Evesam pc (P1/P2 cpu)'

    Thanks
    -Pete

You'll need to find out what kind of video card the machine has. That first chip you mentioned is a Via 686B southbridge chip -- part of the chipset on the motherboard, but it doesn't have anything to do with video. The ADMtek chip is your network controller.

Speaking of that particular souhbridge, that computer is probably newer than you think. The Via 686B southbridge was used on Pentium III and Athlon chipsets. And taking a guess based on the "m6378" portion of the serial number, along with the southbridge type, you may have a motherboard based on the MSI M6378. If that's the case, the motherboard probably has Trident Blade video built-in. Take a look at MSI's web page to see if that's your board. if so, you can download the drivers from there.
