How much is your computer worth in todays market?

This is an interesting thread. Count current value, not how much it cost back in 1998 or how much you paid for it. also count only the essentals, exclude printer, scanner, back up battery, speakers

    ok here goes:

    1. 21" dell p1110 monitor...........$400
    2. xp2000...............$70(includes cheap heatsink/fan)
    3. 2x512mb corsair pc2700........$200 both sticks(prices went up)
    4. 40x cd rom.........$30
    5. 15GB ultra fast 5400rpm maxtor hdd........$40
    6. kt400 mobo by abit the kd7.............$80
    7. 128mb ti4200..........$100(thats all its worth!)
    8. 56k Intel hardware modem.........$30
    9. 350w psu and case...........$50
    10. floppy, mouse, keyboard, cables, etc........$50

grand total.......$1050 with monitor, $650 without!

man $650 seems cheap, but thats all a borderline high end rig is worth now If I forgot any hardware, let me know!

edit: should hardware that overclocks well have extra value? if so, my ti4200 is nearly a ti4400 and my mobo/cpu add another $50 to it. to simplify things, I totaled my value as if everything was bone stock.

40x cd is one of the fastest and quality prevails over speed, no one cares about cd rom speeds anymore LOL.

Ok let me analysize the price of your rig:

    monitor......

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...146227-0883042

    $160 new, $100 used. Ok $100 is your monitor's worth, not $75.
now the cpu, sorry thats $80 at least. I saw those at my computer show dude. also $80 is for one that wont overclock. as for the ram, thats $150 *per* stick. Yes ram prices have gone up, up, up for the holidays. Ti4600s sell for about $160 used. You forgot the harddrive, modem and any other hardware

Lol, it seems they don't seemt o sell any of the parts on my old pc anymore, and the new one I'm trouble finding even the cpu . Seems they don't sell a p4 @ 1.3 ghz, even though that's what mine is .

    Xp 1700+ $60
    SLK800 $40.50
    8rda3+ $124
    2x256MB Mushkin PC3500 $142.50
Saphire Radeon 9500 (red pcb) $145
WD Raptor SATA 10k rpm $140
8xdvd yanked out of old computer $10
    Antec 480 TruePower $58
    -----------------------------------------
    Total: $720

All those prices are shipped to my door, I just bought it so prices should be roughly the same. My last computer was worth a lot more but it had all kinds of accessories like Audigy Platnium EX, Raid setup with dual 60's, TV card etc. I don't know how much my monitors are worth I got them a while ago.

Hopefully that 9500 will convert to a 9700, and the XP1700+ already OC's to 3200+ speeds. I was kinda going for budget gaming machine, under 1k. I probably coulda dropped off the WD and got a cheaper HD, but its nice to have things load fast.
