Question Win XP pro VS Win 2K

Apart from the new interfaces, does 2K offer anything more than XP does? I heard they were pretty similar.

From what I hear, better 3DMarks. But please don't but it because of that, hopefully you aren't a 3DMark whore.

I've been using 2K Pro on my 4 machines for over a year, and not one single problem. I highly recommend it

    Talking

I believe 2k is more stable than xp...

However, if you want eye candy and multimedia enthusiastic I recommend XP...

actually XP not that far behind 2k as far as the stability goes...

and it has more feature build in...that is why I use xp rather than 2k...

So apparently you choose "extra features" over stability.

supposedly....2k might have more issues running old games when compared to XP, because XP utilizes a slightly better compatibility mode...however, the only game i've ever come across that works on xp but not 2k is Need For Speed High Stakes (NFS4). IMO, the "better gaming support" claim is pretty weak

Yeah, I agree, especially when 2K is supposed to get better 3DMarks

well from my experience on my computer xp did not like any of my hardware, like my motherbaord, ati tv card. and is just a pain to get the sound working. where as when i installed 2000 it just breazzed right on through. as did linux, but i had to get a few things for sound . and my mouse for the wheel but i like it anyways.

In my experience, they're equally stable. XP has the eye candy and a few more features like Remote Desktop and built-in wireless support.

    xp vrs. win2k

Same-same except for the eye-candy now! Driver support for win2k is good now. It sucked when released as opposed to xp which had good driver support when released. It takes longer to boot uo win2k. I likem both. Win2k for work, xp for play.

I had more problems with older games with 2000 pro than with xp so I stuck with xp pro; dumb me I still have a 10 gig 98se partition for those same games and they work on xp pro as well but never did on 2000.

I use XP Pro but use the windows classic layout. IMO the differences in stability between the two operating systems are so completely minimal that it's basically whatever you can get cheaper.
