Get the client. It has less overhead. If you run an NT OS, then you can DL the command line version and run it as a service. But you need to be up on cmd configerations to set it up.

Thanks, I`m running XP Home Ed. I don`t know if it qualifies as a NT OS, it wouldn`t matter anyway, I don`t know diddly about command configerations.

I signed up today and will share half my CPU with Seti@Home since each application will take no more than 50% of my CPU. I guess with HT enabled, these programs will not us more than 50%.

Why doesn't Microsoft do something of value, and build software like such into the Windows kernel. Think of the power. Every Windows based computer working together to solve complex math problems while only using a small amount of RAM and CPU power. Windows XP already takes up a shitload of RAM, I wouldn't mind having another 64MB or so dedicated to something usefull. Psh.

In fact, if every Windows based machine were running SETI in the background, I would venture a guess we would find ET in about a week. We would also find that ET is still running Windows 3.11

The team is moving up in the standings quite nicely. We will break the top 4000 today! And as more people begin to turn in units we should continue to progress at a good pace.

Nice picture on the team page, did you put that up Saps?

Well here it is 09:30 am in the east and we have broken into the top 4000 teams (3806).

Some totally un-scientific observations over a three day period.

AMD XP chips fold faster than similar P4 chips

The 638 series projects take forever but really bump your score when turned in.

AD Domain controllers never use more than 50% of the CPU for folding

DNS servers really suck for folding, but it does not seem to adversely affect resolution times.

Dual processor systems are the best (0 + 1) By setting the client to run on the 1 processor, 100% utilizations occurs 100% of the time. More or less.

Xeons are faster than higher rated XP chips

On almost identical systems, 2K advanced server seems to be much faster than NT server. Still need a little more data on this though.

well, i let my comp run a lot of the day, not at overnight, though, at 2.3ghz and i'm still on 1525/2500. The string is p683_tz2_NAT_EXP. I don't know if that's a lot of points, but it darn well should be with me crunching it for the past 2 or 3 days...

Yeah I wonder what other team that could be?

I was wondering why your WU production stopped after just 1!

Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.
