    2nd power supply (MOD)

If u can Mod It ,Then Do it !!! Here it is i'm tired of useing adapters and splicing wires,so what i want to do is use a 2nd power supply that i have to power my 8 fans & 4 lights.
The Problem is that all the info i can find on wiring it this way doesn't really help all that much.So if someone has any ideas on what i should do email me thanks!!!

Splice the green wire and any of the black ones on the ATX plug of your additional PSU to your current one. Then hook up whatever you want. Don't forget to ground the add'l PSU to your case of course.

    i think i got it

Splice black n green wires together on both PSU's,so the power switch(Motherboard) on my tower turns on both. Right? Then as long as i have the 2nd PSU spliced i can just unplug it when i don't want to use it.This way i can just have the power plugs for my lights & extra fans on PSU 2(the one thats NOT IN THE CASE).Do i have the right idea.
    Thanks!!!

I think that the easiest way would be to take the second PSU, take off the ATX connector, and then run the green wire to one terminal of a switch and a black wire to another terminal... Flick the switch, the PSU turns on. Flick the switch off, and the PSU turns off.

    easy, no?

I didn't know he wanted them to operate independently. ^^^^^^^Your idea is the way to go for independent operation. Mine would be for 2 supplies acting together. What ever floats yer boat, right?

There you go BL, whichever way you want it.

(I said "BL" because I'm not comfortable typing "bonerlove", much less saying it.)

It is an interesting idea. Redundant power for non-essential fans, lights etc. Leave your basic stuff on the main psu, including the intake, blowhole, and rear exhaust. Then when you are ready for a fragfest or you wanna impress the ladies, crank up the secondary unit, turn on all the CCFLs and LED fans, warm up the Railgun, and play some Barry White on Winamp......

And if you do decide to do this, the switch of choice is obviously a high-security keyswitch. That way you can take the key out and ensure that nobody can kill your fans by accident.

here are pics of mine (going to be used in my upcoming mod-box):

I got it at a local radio shack, but they also have them from time to time at allelectronics.com as well as other online vendors.

Trying to learn something here....what is that little keyswitch used for? Is that to lock the side panel(s) or a power button? Both? Lol...

If I had to guess I would say it's just a keyboard lock that AT computers had
If your sig is longer than your post then type more.

i have had 2 PSUs in my case for over a year now. I have them so they operate at the same time using the first suggestion splicing the green1 to green2 and a black one too. But I have a digitaldocV to control all my fans so i didn't need to turn off the second PSU. If you are using it just for fans which is what i do then it really doesn't matter. If you run a jumper from the green wire to any black wire on the P1 connector you will see it turn on, so If you go for the switch idea make sure it is a hard swith not a soft switch.

The ones I like are already taken.

With the key turned one way, electricity can flow from one terminal to the other. With the key the other way, electricity can't.

You decide what you need a switch like that for.
