    Why should they?

They hav got the fastest performing CPU at the moment.

So they can ask whatever they want, or whatever the fastest CPU is worth, and that is as much or even more then the fastest that Intel has.

Intel does this the whole time, while there is just 5-10% performance difference between a Pentium 4 3.0ghz and 3.2 ghz, they still charge you more then 50% more for the fastest.

That's the way this business works, hell even Nvidia and ATI do this, it is common practice for company's.

I always remind people: when the pentium was released and AMD wasn't a viable alternative, a top of the line CONSUMER cpu cost $1500.

Generally people prefer intel over amd because of the name.If you also consider that this chip is slower than it's intel competitor and priced equally to it then you should understand why i stated this

This would be fine in make believe world, but like it or not brand name and reputation do mean something. AMD has tried several times to sell at Intel prices and couldn't. Hopefully this time will be different, but AMD has to price their stuff at what the market will buy them at, regardless if they're the fastest or not.
