    Sharing DSL w/ Crossover

    Is there anything fancy I need to do in order to get my friend's computer to connect to the internet through a crossover cable? This is my setup:

    - 1 DSL cable modem plugged into NIC[1]
    - My Computer (sig) with NIC[1] (PCI) and NIC[2] (onboard) installed
    - 1 Crossover cable plugs into my friends computer from NIC[2], we've connected before and have been able to share files.

    Sometime this weekend I'm going to buy a router (suggestions welcome) so I won't have to worry about the crossover, but for the time being I want to share my internet with my friend. Do I need to install more software/drivers?

    Thanks.

    You will need to set up ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on your computer.

    what OS? The following is for win2k or XP.
    on the computer with the 2 nics and that has the internet;
    Start-->settings-->network connections--> select the nic where you have internet-->right click-->properties-->[win2k-->sharing, click on sharing] [XP-->Advanced-->allow other user internet...]

    then a warning should appear that should say something like "to be able to share you have to set 192.168.0.1", press Yes.
