Alarm Clock?
Hey guys, I'm looking for a way to make my computer act as an alarm clock. Specifically, I need for it to play sound (or perhaps a file) for a certain amount of time, then stop playing on its own. I'm looking for this for some friends who are Jewish and keep the sabbath- they can't turn on/off/adjust volume on anything electronic, but they can set something up before shabbat and have it go off on its own.

You can try using the Microsoft's Scheduled Task feature... it should appear in Control Panel.
Or this alarm clock program could help you out.

jesus christ.... that is my exact post.
i highly recommend either of those routes. i used to use the scheduled task for a very long time because of the simplicity and not needing to have any extra programs. but then i got peter's alarm clock and it is awesome as well. you can ever make it talk to you. its funny waking up to the computer screaming.
i usually make it say something like:
"AAAAUUUHHHHUUUUAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! !GET UP!"

Probably, although I haven't tested that. Since the computer is in my room, I have no problem with leaving it on/logged in all the time.

yes your computer needs to be on. i'm not sure about logged in. i always lock my computer when i don't use it...so that is kind of logged out but not quite. and my alarm clock still works. guess you'll just have to test it out.

okay, i'm usually locked out when i'm not around, but what i do is turn my computer off overnight, but i can have it start up by itself, but i didn't want to disable my password so it could get into windows by itself...cuz then in order to lock it, i'd need to create my password during the day...
