    Amped 2 or SSX 3?

Dunno if that many people are into snowboarding but was wondering if anybody took a look at these two yet. I know they both just came out. Gamespot gave SSX a 9 but they haven't reviewed Amped 2 yet. XBOX, btw.

    Any thoughts?

They're both good, but I prefer the more realistic gameplay of Amped than the more arcadey SSX 3.

Yeah I was noticing that. I'm not sure which I'd prefer. Guess I'll rent them first and try em out.

A group of my friends are SSX addicts, they have been talking about nothing but SSX for the last 2 weeks. I know I'm going to be playing SSX 3 way before i try Amped 2, so for me the decision is easy.

Haven't played amped, but I can highly recommend SSX from the previous installments.

Never been a big fan of ssx, just too unrealistic. Amped 2 is really good from the impressions i've read, massive mountains with lots of freedom. But apparently, 1080 avalanche's final build on gamecube is better than both amped 2 and ssx 3, also looks better according to the guy who played it.

Who cares about realism when it comes to Snowboarding? I personally just want some big @ss air . SSX3 has a lot of stuff to do, plus it has online play. Maybe you can't do a 3240 in real life, but it's still fun to do it in a video game.

I got SSX3 a few hours back (first game i've bought for my GC in about 5 months ). The controls are slightly ill planned on the GC controller as you have to switch from the stick to the D-Pad when doing tricks (or i have a borked controller, answers on a postcard). I've no idea if the problem is the same on the Ps2/XBox (is it out on XB?) but it's easy enough to get used to if it is - just a frustrating addition until you go 'Oooooh, *that's* how i'm supposed to jummp'.

It's good fun, the way of doing competitions now makes you feel more 'in with the action' as you travel down the mountain to the courses etc, the radio has some good tunes as well. Nice touch. I've not had time to unlock anything yet, but it's another fun SSX game which I'm happy with my money spent.

Annnnd... i've not played Amped, so no idea.

Only a 3240?!?! I like it when the game cant figure out what you did and it just pops up question marks

I've got that, it's easy to do on that first racing stage or whatever...i think it's just anything 3000 and up. You'd think they could come up with a name for it or something =p, i guess there is so many trick combonations they can't have a name for everything.

Only on PS2 iirc, and Janko is talking about the xbox version.

I'd still say go for SSX 3, it rocks.

heres what i say about games:

you play them because its not real, if you want real life action.. do it in real life

as for the games, i would go with SSX3 ( i personally hated amped )

If you drink alot of caffeine, are hyper, and have ADD (like me) definately go with SSX3. Even if you like Amped too, you still have to get SSx3 as well...out-frickin-standing game.

They are two different games. Almost hard to compare them. Amped is more realistic, but SSX is more arcadish() and fun. I'd go with SSX3.

Depends on what type of game you are looking for. Amped 2 has more realism while SSX 3 is just plain crazy fun. IF you like snow boarding both are a buy. While i wish SSX 3 had live support. I will be working on a review for Amped 2 this week i will let you know when it is up. SSX 3 review here
