Great White Shark
State of Decay is a crazy game. "spoilers"
Its one of those, "Oh I'll start it up just to see how my survivors are doing." and 4 hours later you are battling 3 hordes of zombies by yourself alone and desperate to survive.
It is far from perfect, and has some elements that make me want to pull my hair out. But damn I'm having fun.
Give you an example of some of the insanity from yesterday.
I decided to move my home base to a farm located further away from the city with more room. I got there, surveyed the surroundings, and cleared out the wandering "Zeds" that were close by.
As soon as I made the radio call and started the base upgrades...
A infestation appeared right across the road in the barn I just cleared out and a total of 4 hordes rushed the place. I had just switched to a survivor who's fighting skills were not leveled and he had a pump shotgun and a wrench as weapons.
So I started to kite. Luckily I had just done the "help the army" mission so I was able to call in artillery strikes on two of the hordes.
Around 20 frantic mins later all the "Zeds" were dead, my guy was badly hurt, out of ammo but still alive. He also leveled a few times.
My only big beefs with the game is it is buggy, but the devs do make an effort to fix them. And it is relentless in its pacing. I'm fine with nonstop action however a game should give you a few breathers once in a while to collect your wits. State of Decay has you fighting for your life every second of play, and it can (and does) become tiring.

I don't roll on Shabbos!
I've been passing over this game a lot because I thought it was another one of those multiplayer survival games like Day-Z. Tons of those have hit Steam lately, but this looks interesting. Thanks for the recommendation. It is on sale right now for $4.99 I believe.

Wurm, did you use a graphics mod for the game? The saturation looks strange and I didn't see any option to adjust the bloom (I had to do a mod just to run at 2560x1440.) Did the mod community do a graphics patch? Hard for me to play it in its stock state.

At 1920 x 1980 the only thing I had to do was turn up the gamma a bit.
I'm using the 337.88 drivers on my 760 SLi setup.

I do know for a fact the the official forums are very pro-active in helping people with problems out and they are still actively working on bug fixes, give them a shot.

Will do. Currently playing some Civ5 and Tell Tale games, but plan on trying this out when I have a bigger chunk of time.

"Watches You Sleep" Shark
I picked up rust so I'll probably pass on this since I can;t see myself justifying 2 survival sims. That said, I did grab the The Forest, but I like that its a single player survival horror.
If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Rust and DayZ are PKer playgrounds. State of Decay is single player only.

This. ^
Rust is Minecraft for sociopaths (and that isn't a bad thing).

My mistake. I replied to the wrong post where someone mentioned Day Z. I actually have State of Decay but was disappointed in the lack of mp. I really wanted a Mp or co-op base building survival game.
