Below are a two pics of my 2nd rig, I'd decided that though my i7 3960X has lower IPC's than the i7 4770K, it still has 50% more cores/threads, so it should be better in the long run. I'd originally built this rig back in 2011/2012 and I gotta say, it's been pretty good thus far. I'd swapped out the original Corsair H100 AIO I'd started with with a a Corsair H100i RGB Pro XT (at least, I think it is, it's been awhile and my memory ain't what it used to be.....not that it was any good in the first place).

    System specs -
    Intel LGA2011 i7 3960X (6C/12T)
Corsair H100i RGB Pro XT AIO
    Asus Rampage IV Extreme
    PowerColor RX VEGA64 Red Devil
    4x 4GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 2133
    240GB Sandisk SSD Plus (OS)
2x 2TB WD Black HDD (games)
    2x 1TB WD Black (games)
1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD (downloads, music, video files)
    Caselabs Magnum M8
    Seasonic X-1250 (Gold)
Probox 4x 6TB HDD (media storage)
    Philips HTL9100 soundbar
Creative SXFI Theater Headphones (for movies)
    Oppo HA-1 + Senn HD800/ENIGMAcoustics Dharma D1000/AKG K812/HFM HE1000/Denon AH-D7000/Senn HD600/HFM HE-4/Grado GS-1000/MD Senn HD6XX

soupnazi would have been proud of the inroads I've made into the audio realm!

I love watching movies on this setup because of the Acer 21:9 monitor, WS movies at 2.39:1 when watched on a regular 16:9 monitor would have those black bars on top and bottom of screen. On a 21:9 monitor (which is equal to 2.39:1 ratio), movies can be cropped to fit the entire screen without those bars getting in the way....like Alita shown below (includes the 4K BR I'd gotten), simply perfect for me!

Happy NEW Year guys! I hope 2022 turns out better than 2021, or 2020 for the matter. As usual, being alone, I needed something to cheer myself up, and since I spend a ton of time resting my butt on a comfy chair infront of my monitor, I'd decided to upgrade that dinky desk of mine. I went with a 48" Omnidesk Pro 2020 (smallest version), I love that being motorized, I can work on cable management under my desk by raising the height of the desk till I can comfortably work below it. So, my desk went from (below), note the 'snakes' of cables hanging around at back:

    To...so much tidier!

Edit - It's weird, after logging in on my tablet, I'm now able to log in on my rigs without doing anything more.....head scratcher this one!

I particularly like the case which was a struggle to choose as I wanted something with no rgb, that would fit an ATX board, that could take an optical drive and a decent number of hard drives but also fit within the tight space on my desk. The Fractal Define R6 does all that, it's quiet, has a good few ports on the front and I think it looks great. I had initially tried to order it with a solid side but they weren't in stock or silly prices but now I've seen the tempered side I'm pleased with it.

I was fuming at Amazon because I'd had to wait longer, buuuut, a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT (local unit with local warranty) suddenly became available locally, though the price was pretty high, I decided NOT to wait for my postponed Amazon preorder, canceled the heck outta it and snag the Sapp card instead.

My 2600K HTPC rig has been sold, so my 4770K with GTX1080 has replaced it as my HTPC rig. Also built a main gaming rig (3960X and 4770K are kinda long in the tooth now), so I'd built a Ryzen unit -
    Ryzen R9 3900X (12C/24T)
    Thermaltake Water 3.0 360mm AIO
    Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme
PowerColor RX VEGA 64 Red Devil (reusing from old rig)
    4x 8GB XPG DDR4 D60G 3200 RAM
    Samsung 4TB 860 EVO + Samsung 860 QVO (games)
    6TB WD Black (games)
2TB Seagate Barracuda (downloads, music, movies)
    CoolerMaster H500M
    Corsair HX1000 Platinum

So, okay, I've decided that I'd be done with upgrades after my present slew of hardware purchases, and I'm gonna end up with two all AMD builds to fulfill my gaming and entertainment needs. I'd upgraded my main rig from an R9 3900X to an R9 5900X, I knew I was gonna upgrade my GPU, and felt that the 5900X would do better keeping up with the new GPU upgrade. I'd originally wanted an R7 5800X3D, but the 5900X dropped on my lap at a lower price, too good for me to pass up.

Anyway, when done, my two rigs would more or less be as listed below, perhaps I might fine tune things a little when I get down to building my 2nd rig. I'll retire my two older Intel rigs after I'm done:

    Main Rig -
    AMD R9 5900X + Tt BigWater 3.0 360mm AIO
    Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme
    2x 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB RT DDR4 3600C16
XFX Speedster MERC 310 RX 7900 XTX
    500GB Crucial P3 Plus NVMe M.2 Gen 4 x4 (OS + Essential programs)
    2TB Kingston NV2 NVMe M.2 Gen 4 x4 (Games)
    2TB Teamgroup MP33 NVMe M.2 Gen 3 x4 (Games)
4TB Samsung 860 EVO SATA SSD (Games)
1TB Samsung 860 EVO SATA SSD (Games)
2TB Seagate HDD (or similar) for downloads/music files/movies
    Corsair HX1000 Platinum
    CoolerMaster H500M

    2nd rig -
    AMD R9 3900X + Thermalright PA 120 SE
    Gigabyte X570S Aorus Elite AX
2x 16GB Patriot Viper Elite II DDR4 4000MHZ (will get it to run at 3600C16 if possible)
(Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT (when I'm back in February)
    500GB Crucial P2 NVMe M.2 Gen 3 x4 (OS + Essential programs)
4TB Leven JS600 SATA SSD (Games)
2TB Samsung 860 QVO SATA SSD (Games)
1TB Samsung 860 EVO SATA SSD (Games)
2TB WD HDD (or similar) for downloads/music/movies
Enermax MAXREVO 1500 or Corsair HX 1050 (have both, will decide which to use)
SOLDAM XR-1 Black Knight (or Thermaltake View 31)

The following is a gratuitous slew of pics....
    Leven JS600 4TB small.jpg
    Corsair RGB RT small.jpg
    Kingston NVMe small pic.jpg
    Cables small pic.jpg

Pics of the new card were taken back home by my bud, who'd kindly helped me by picking it up for me (gonna have to buy him a nice lunch treat for this). The pics were take at the shop, one of which showed it being held by a staff member of the shop.

A couple of more parts had arrived for my upgrade and newly repurposed 3900X build. A set of 1x 24pin ATX, 2x 8pin CPU, and 2x 6+2pin PCIe cables for the RX 7900 XTX:
    Black cables small pic.jpg

And, a new mobo for the 3900X, I like my present mobo, so I decided to go with another Gigabyte mobo, albeit a cheaper one....but not exactly cheap per se. I could have gone with the MSI B550 Tomahawk, but decided that I'd like to have an X570 chipset mobo, and WiFi6 capability built-in.

Still, I won't be back till 2nd week of February, so I guess I'll have to twiddle my thumbs for now....

A set of cables to spruce up the rather drab stock PSU cables I have now, this came to me in Canada...

Someday we're going to have to tech you how to resize your photos BEFORE you post them here.

I'd had them resized before getting them hosted on imgur, funny thing is, on other sites it's fine, but here, it seems something's off. I'm viewing this on my laptop screen at 2560x1600, and it's like, even in fullscreen mode, there's a slider tab at bottom for me to slide to right of screen. I don't see this on other sites actually, is this due to my pics being too big here? I can resize them again if need be. So weird, as I'm typing this message, I've just noted that I can't see part of what's on the right side of my screen.

Edit - After posting this message, I'd noticed that the slider tab goes to the middle, so I can't see my avatar on the left side, of screen....

    Testing

We are probably missing a setting here that isn't helping.....

Okay, I've edited the pics, uploaded from my rig to Sharky's, now the screen res looks okay in that the slider at the bottom has gone the way of the Dodo. I will edit the pics in the other thread....later, did this because I couldn't sleep.

Edit - Was there a Peroxpete (?) or something like that? I think I'd chatted with him before.....

Really, I'd thought it was Peroxpete(?) or something like that, it's been a while now, getting old, so my RAM module and storage devices are somewhat faulty. Regardless, I may have chatted with him a ways back.....really can't remember now. I do recall Vertices, Colossus and who was that guy who was always using that term 'buttery smooth'...Thunderbird1Ghz?

I have fond memories of the most excellent guys here, some of them helped me get a refund for a set of Klipsch PM2.1 which I had paid to be shipped to me. Apparently, shipping would have cost a fair bit, and the seller (who was a member here) had gone silent after payment was made. The guys here got in touch with him and he soon refunded the money to me. Bunch of great guys here, hence my penchant for returning here to post.

Ah, the good old days here.....

Edit - I'll be going back home in just over a month, will post pics of my upgraded rig, plus the new build from the spare 3900X and RX 6900 XT. So looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting down to work on them!

A couple of small items arrived yesterday, a right-angle 24pin ATX adapter, (okay, okay, it's got RGB, so shoot me!) and 3x U-bend PCIe power adapters for the RX 7900 XTX. These items/accessories are purely for aesthetics and cable management....
    ATX accessories.jpg

I have also ordered a multi-angle/vertical GPU bracket, and an 8" Linkup PCIe Gen 4 x16 riser cable, bloody thing is expensive! It's going to my bud's house later this month.
