    Upgrade time!!!

Bought a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6800 in late November....had a great time with it!

In my rig, yes, RGB galore but RGB has been proven to improve performance, enhance health and longevity, and....and, promote world peace!

But, being an AMD guy, and always after the best that AMD has to offer.....upgraded from the RX 6800 to a Nitro+ RX 6900 XT (cost me >1300USD but it's a local set with local warranty for peace of mind), but that's a more reasonable price here compared to the crazy scalpers' price here in my neck of the woods. I'd pre-ordered an XFX Speedster MERC319 RX 6900 XT, but due to a mix up about my CC limit, my preorder was postponed and I canceled that preorder in a huff, went out and snagged this Sapphire card instead.

Don't let the angle fool ya, the cards look to be exactly the same size....the RX 6900 XT is at the back.

Running like a champ in my rig....

I'm playing Gears of War 5 Hivebuster at 3840x1080 at max setting and it's a hoot! Steady >100fps just about all the way, except for cut scenes. Borderlands 3 is "buttery smooth", who used to say that? I put that phrase in apostrophes because someone used to always say that.....can't for the life of me recall who though.

That's wicked. I'm probably skipping a generation this time around I'm so far behind on gaming. Hopefully this gen is nice and affordable by the time I get around to it.

This gen, both nVidia and AMD, is just so...... messed up! The prices are way beyond MSRP from both makers, the sweet spot cards - RTX 3080 and RX 6800 XT - are wickedly overpriced and in such short supply. I'd have been really happy with a non-reference XFX/PowerColor/Sapphire RX 6800 XT. Oddly enough, the very top flagship cards - RX 6900 XT and RTX 3090 - can be found with relative ease, probably because these cards represent pretty bad value in terms of price/performance compared to the RTX 3080 and RX 6800 XT respectively. I was desperate for an RX 6800 XT but 'settled' for the RX 6900 XT simply because I'd to satisfy this terrible itch.

AMD cards are actually running cooler, my room temp is around a comfy 23C, and I have set a custom UV/Power Limit/fan setting for my card (running Adrenalin 21.4.1) and I dunno, may be my room's a bit cooler after having had my aircon blower chemically washed, or the new driver, or perhaps both, but my card seems to be running cooler. After more than one hour of COD MW WZ SP Campaign, I took a screenshot GPU-Z max sensor reading, pretty good temps I must say.

Have you noticed any big improvements around the house after the aircon blowout? I've got wicked allergies and have thought about getting it done.

Sorry 'bout the rather tardy response, I sometimes get too busy gaming, or visiting other sites that I forget to check in here. Anyway, the aircon service guys did a pretty thorough job, removing the entire blower shroud and actual blower itself (till the spot where my blower was was just an empty wall with just a hole where the aircon coolant and water outlet pipes used to be). They had washed the air inlet on the blower (where I'd noticed some mold like spots, got me feeling kinda queasy realizing it was there for a while) till it it was spotless, chemically treated and cleaned the cooling grill/vent thingy on the blower (I know, my mastery of all these technical terms is mind boggling ).

I can't say for sure, and can only say so anecdotally, but yeah, the air seems fresher, and my throat don't feel so dry or mildly sore each morning I wake up (I know I snore a lot) though the air is now cooler than previously.
