What to get?
I just got the Abit KT7a motherboard and i need to get a CPU. I want to hit 1Ghz. i have about $130 to spend... should i get the 700/750/800? I have a FOP32-1 sitting right in front of me and he wants to be on a t-bird. I also want to try to make it to 1ghz with a bus speed of 133x2 (266).
Also, should i by my T-bird retail or OEM? which is better for overclocking? or is there a differenc at all?

i would look on the overclockers database and see which one is better for te 1 gig

I believe the 800 is the choice but wait until some AMD aficionados reply.

I have heard the same: 800.

A T-bird 800 should do 1GHz, but a Duron 600 and do the same. Weigh your options, the Duron is way cheaper and performs *almost* like a pro

Well if u have that much to spend, get the fastest CPU to begin with, because while some may get a 600 to 1ghz or at least 900, you will most certainly get a 800 to 1000, and maybe a little more. Of course, the T-birds instability and heat issues make it harder and harder to see signifigant gains the higher up the ladder you go. I say 800, the 800-1000 cpus are a good sweet spot now anyways
