    i always see problems with the PC-Tel / HSP modems as well, but having owned one (and it was on-board as well), i can't see why. i seriously never had an issue after a small amount of tweaking.

    do you seriously recommend going over the 5.97 lucent driver? for some reason i see nothing but problems with the versions past 5.97...

    and i was referring to steady download speed. the top connection speed on phone lines is limited to 53kbps to the best of my knowledge. but that has next to nothing to do with download speed.
