Windows XP and Memory question.
first check this link:
http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/memor.../xpmem-3.shtml
Now notice the part where it says: "Memory usage. When set to System cache Windows XP uses RAM less 4MB for disk caching purposes (Disabled by default). On PCs with a good deal of RAM (256MB or more preferably) installed this should result in best system performance, although for those with less RAM available setting this to Programs will result in best overall system performance...."
It is stating that if you have 256mb or more of memory then you should have it set to "System Cache." Can anyone verify this? I have 512mb memory and don't know which way to go. I am satisfied with leaving it at the "Programs." Will the switch make THAT much of a difference?
thanks

From what I know, adding a little extra memory for use with system cache is mostly profitable for servers or people running programs requiring more cache. I would imagine that gamers would still prefer to allocate more to programs for performance purposes.
