GSD on patrol
has this ever been successfully done?
I couldn't sleep last night because I was thinking of how to make this work. I was thinking of getting a small fridge (prolly used) kinda like this:
and cutting a hole somewhere in it to run the ide/psu cables into a mobo/cpu/hd & cards. Maybe buying a can of spray on rubber coating to waterproof most of the mobo. And would it be necessary to have a heatsink w/ fan or just a HS, or no HS at all? I'm sure this has been attempted before but I couldn't find it anywhere on google etc.
I mean this way your pc could be as quiet as a fridge (cept for the psu on top). Of course your cd/dvd drives would need to be outside somewhere...blah blah.
what do you think.
p.s. needless to say I was up till 1am

I would just stick my computer in there with the case and all and put plenty of case fans to get cool air inside, which is simpler

well, simpler in one way but everytime you want to put in a cd or whatever you would need to open it up. I was thinking HD & mobo inside since the HD is sealed you could coat it with sealant/waterproofing as well as most of the mobo. maybe to make things better scarf the back side of a small case to have the I/O panel and card slots and integrate that into the fridge side. that way only the IDE & power cables would need to be run through a seperate hole.
edit: I'm also wondering if those fridge's have piping running throughout the sides so if you try to cut a hole in the side or top you'll cut some freon hose or somethin. hmmm I doubt it.
