reading that translation of the new law made me wonder. They are talking about public places. It does NOT mention your own home!!! Anyway, I think the Greek government is foolish!

From Article 2, Item 1: "Operation and installation of any game of type (b), (c) and (d) of Article 1, including computer games, placed in public places such as hotels, cafeterias, organization halls and in any other public or private place, is prohibited" [emphasis mine].

To the gamers of Greece: We feel your pain and hope you'll be rid of this imposition soon.

i hate to put out such blatant flame bait, but after i read about greece, my first thought was "stupid socialists"

IMHO, people are way too greedy to ever make socialism work. i, for one, have no problem with that.

a second apology, this one for being such a gringo, but VIVA LA CAPITALISM!

    Post Sign the petition

There's a Greek Web Site at www.markgoldie.co.uk/gameland/index2.htm that discusses what's happening with the gaming ban. They have a petition going too, so make sure you sign it (write only responsible comments; profanity or "this sucks, dude" won't help the cause).

anyway it was just a big mistake. who in their right mind would ban even personal gaming? we aren't talking about some mid-east extremists here.

This can't really be such a big deal since it is really hard to find anything about it on major news sites (cnn).

Besides us americans really need to be careful with what we say about a government instituting such a law, after all the US is more likely to ban gaming than guns.

(if greece really is a democracy there'll be an election some day and we'll find out what the population thinks about that law)

Just because there isnt a big deal made doesnt mean it isnt important, take slavery in africa for example, maybe i have my head in a bag but i hardly hear a peep about that

Also if you do a search on CNN about "slavery africa" hte most relivent info that comes up is this

Africa calls for slavery apology (01-Sep-01)
African leaders have called on the U.S. and Europe to apologise for their part in colonial slavery but are divided on whether to insist on reparations.

Rice dismisses reparations for slavery (09-Sep-01)
National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, one of the most prominent and influential blacks in the Bush administration, dismissed the idea Sunday of reparations to compensate the descendants of slaves.

Well if africa was starting up this slavery thing just now it would be all over the news. It just seems nobody really cares about greece. Face it when was the last time you thought about that country?
