    'Normal' HDs and laptops

Ok, got a friend with a Dell laptop that has a 30gig hardrive. He has muchos music/anime/randomness like the rest of the world but, like all of us, doesn't want to burn 10gig of stuff a week.

So, the obvious solution is to get a big, nice, fat, and happy Maxtor 120 or so and hook it up to his laptop. Whats are the various options to do so?

i've no clue what's available for labtops as far as pcmcia cards go, but i'm sure they've got usb 2.0 or firewire cards, and if you can get one of those you can get a nice big fat external hard drive and hook it up to the pcmcia card.

the compaq evo laptop I have at work has Firewire onboard.

if he has a desktop then he could also network the two and copy that way
