How do I make a VCD for viewing?

If I record something, where can I find instructions on making a vcd that will work for playback in my dvd player?

A program like Nero, or Easy CD Creator will do the trick. All the DVD player needs is a table of contents to play the movie, and those programs create it for you.

assuming the video is within the vcd specifications, and I know Nero will tell you whether or not your video file is vcd compliant or not.

yeah i had to use adobe premiere to make sure the video file was in right spec.. it must be a certain resolution and at a certain framerate...

No, 'cause VCDs are encoded in mpeg1. DVD players are designed to read mpeg2. Support for mpeg1 is extra.

You can still get a DVD player that'll play VCD's for under $100 though. I got one for $70 that plays them. It's a memorex.
