Anyone get their firewire working with their A7N8X Deluxe?

USB works just fine, and I hooked up the USB ports in front of my case and they work also. I'm sure I hooked up the FireWire correctly from the front ports on my case. I also hooked up the card that came with the motherboard. Windows detects the firewire (well, it has drivers installed for it, won't detect my camcorder though). I read that installed SP1 fixes this problem but it didn't do anything for me. Some people over at amdmb forum's have theirs working but there have been a couple cases with the situation that I'm in.

Mine's working fine. I haven't heard of any "firewire" issues to date?

Hmm out of those 5 links you posted, one has not been resolved and the rest were either pilot error or WinXp problems. I'm having no problems with my firewire externals working. If you look at the long A7N8X Build thread here:

    http://www.amdforums.com/showthread....hreadid=171561

you might find some help. It's 88 pages long and I don't remember any firewire issues other than possibly in Win98.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help

Yeah, I post on amdforums also =p I went through like 60 pages at once, don't wanna do it again. Well, don't know what to do, it's not a driver problem or anything since it's a windows thing, I'll just mess around with it some more.

When I uninstall the drivers for it, it reinstalls and asks if I want to setup a network connection. Did you do anything with that? I don't have a network or anything, but the 1394 detects as a network adapter.

Actually I choose no and then after the install go into Networking properties and disable it. Because if you don't and you're sharing something on the firewire between two computers like a 60Gb Firewire drive, you hear those blasted windows bells from both computers everytime you either boot one of them up or shut one down. But if you're not sharing anything on the firewire, you don't even need to do that

I don't know how helpful this'll be, but I sort of had a similar problem with my 8RDA+ when I first got it...except it was my USB that wasn't working. After digging around AMDforums, I found some threads involving 8RDA users that had issues with IRQ sharing. In BIOS I tried disabling some things I wasn't using, specifically the onboard audio. Then the USB started working fine.

Sucks that I had to disable things to get others working, but overall it's not a biggie for me - and I'm sure there's a better solution that keeps everything working.

    Good luck!

this is actually a question for the original poster

where did you get the front panel usb and firewire ports? I've been looking everywhere and couldn't find one that had both and was made for the a7n8x deluxe. A link or website or model would be a great help.
