    Screwy windows speaker configuration

    What would cause windows to keep defaulting back to 2 speaker mode every time I reboot? I only get 2.1 channel stereo right now.

    Yeah it does that to me too. To stop doing that you must install the Creative software - at the very least you need the Creative mixer. I solved my problem that way.

    Make sure windows is set to your correct settings. I have never had this problem myself so I dont really know for sure. But i have my speakers setup to 4 in windows and never had a problem.

    I never did either and have never used all the extra garbage on the creative cd. Oh well, I fixed it by a reinstall of windows.

    a couple games like mafia and hitman would reset my settings to that.
