Ok so what about the Athlon 64?

I thought I was doing a decent job of keeping up with whats going on but now i'm hearing about athlon64, when is this "suppose" to be available to us? What about the Prescott from intel, is that their next move or just a faster P4 in the near future?

Athlon 64 aka hammer is suposed to be out q2 03 but it is expected that the prices will be high and the quanities low if any at all. Plus the athlon 64 doesnt look that promising right now.

The prescott is simply the next P4 like northwood was. It will simply move p4 to .09u

Prescott is a little more than just a new P4 on a 90nm process. The changes aren't major as it is clearly from the P4 family, but it increases cache sizes and reduces latencies in a variety of instructions that the P4 currently struggles on. It also adds a few more instructions, but I don't believe the details of these have been released yet.

So Q2 as in april, may, or june? Or is there a little more precise time?

They say early q2 but i doubt it ive even heard rumors of march but again i coul dget flamed for even saying such things. Also i knwo presscott is more than the .09u but most of its big stuff is coming from the p4s to be released right before prescott 800mhz fsb, HT2, Also the 1mb cache should help pressccot out too but nothing is for sure.
