Monitors can get warm but I would say in most cases a fan is not necessary. I also think it would pull more dust into the monitor case as well.

There's two types of people out there:
Overclockers & those who should be overclocking.

WEll actually most those fans suck air out of the monitor.

Keeping the monitor cool is important. Its the fact that they get too hot that causes the guns inside them to get out of alignment, causing blurry images. Or for certian color guns to fail all together (wierd colors).

I know my Sony monitor is easy to clean on the inside. Unscrew four screws and the cover pops off. Hook the hose to the vacuum cleaner blow port (fancy vacuums actually have these) and blow the dust out. Put cover back on and screw in place. Doesn't void your warranty even.

To suck air out of a monitor you have to draw air in, unless it's operating at a vacuum. The air being drawn in caries dust particles into the case.

    Cool

you know how there's some people who keep their computer's on for a whole week without turning it off...same goes with their monitor's...they keep it on...no screen savers too.

Point. But still, dust gets in anyway. And if the air moves through the monitor then it has LESS chance to settle and stick. If it isn't moving then thats when it settles.

It's not a bad idea. I don't necesarily think it is a good or bad idea. I would be more concerned with pulling more dust in than anything else.

If you attach the fan to the top of your monitor and attach filters to all the vent holes that would work much better and you wouldn't be pulling in much dust. Would also keep the heat down a bit which is never a bad idea..
