    Question Notebook upgrading

    I guess I will start my first post here as a question . If you have a notebook (dell) with a Celeron 1.6 processor can it be upgraded to a Pentium 4 processor?

    no i dont believe it can be

    you can only upgrade things that are options when you put your computer together

    for example - if you ordered a geforce 440 go and the other option was an ATI 7500 mobile, then you can upgrade to the ATI, but you cannot upgrade to something that was not an option

    Notebook procs are usually soldered in place.

    Really? I've heard otherwise.

    And MAXIMUM PC also had a feature on that on their December 2002 issue.
    Sadly I missed it.

    But I believe you can just call Dell and buy the "spare" part.

    AFIK Intel notebook procs are only produced in a solderable form. Desktop chips use sockets. There are some notebook models that use desktop chips.
