    Mice LED's

Anyone seen any guides on putting a LED in an optical mouse and masking the red one so that the red light doesn't spill out all around the sides. I've got a few ideas on how to do it but want to see if there are any unforseen issues that someone else ran into.

... why would you want to do that? do you mean you want to change the color that it puts out, or what?

wants it to just be the first frame, I guess the light from it annoys him

logitechs new mx mice dont have that, so if you break it in the process you could always get one

You can't take out the LED in an optical mouse because that is what the "eye" uses to pick up the movement on the surface. Since I am going to be putting blue or clear LED's in everything in my new rig I didn't want that one red LED left, sticking out like a sore thumb, if I could get around it. Well I guess I will just take the plunge and see if my ideas will work or not. If they don't then I am only out the $15 for a new mouse.

Well I guess I was wrong. I was under the assumption that the "eye" could only pick up the light from a red LED. I found this short guide that shows blue LED's being used. http://www.linkitch.dk/Guides/Mouse-mod/Mouse.htm

Well yeah, you can swap out leds to change the color if thats what you were asking? The idea is to get one with a high MCD level (probably 5000+) I believe that most mouses come standard with a 6000+ MCD LED in them..
