TEAM AWESOME!
Eax Sux
Well, I'm trying to finish my way out of SOF2... and I keep getting blown up by grenades that I don't even hear bounce next to me. Isn't EAX supposed to be a nice, 3D "Sound" positional audio experience. Give me a break... I haven't noticed it suck this much before and I just updated my drivers. When gunshots are fired from far away, it sounds all bassy and drowned out like a bomb was exploding. What gives EAX? Damn. Make me use DirectSound instead *#^%@^

Not Wurm
Not Creatives fault that who ever made SOF2 put in a bad EAX tracks.

Yeah the EAX in SOF2 isn't very good. At first I thought it was running in stereo. Try EAX in Jediknight 2.

RIP SiS :(
EAX adds ambience, it doesn't upmix tracks to 5.1. If you're having a problem with surround, that shouldn't be blamed on EAX, AFAIK.

I've been playing SOF2 that came with Audigy 2 and was amazed at how well the sounds werer defined on Klipsch 5.1. I can even hear the bullets hitting the wall behind me.

i like sticking with stereo the audigy does a nice job of distinguishing between right and left, and it doesnt eat up resources like eax

Yep. In SOF set the sound driver to EAX. I don't ever use this feature in the creative driver control panel. It just adds different ambient effects in 2d.

YES, and eax only sounds good in games with built in support for eax, not all games, as far as my limited gaming experience has shown.
Sometimes, eax (enviromental audio extensions) sounds pretty good.
