    Unhappy How can i increase my modem speed.

    i wanted to know if i can increase my modem speed. i always connect at 40k.bloody hell man..it just takes the Pi$$.dnt suggest an upgrade to a broadband and all coz at this time im in financial crisis. i was wondering there might be some sort of program or i can tweak my windows XP (professioanl edition) and ataleast get somefing like 45k..plz let me know of nething....

    theres lots of tweaks & theorys to help dial up modem connections, the links are to reviews of tweaking software and the sites them selves..also check for any DUN updates for the OS..

    what I found is that regardless of what the "snapshot" connect speed is that your told, its not the avg. throughput..
    you say your getting 40K connections but thats likely more toward the peak rather than the average..

    you probably wont gain anything by forcing a higher connection speed but you will if you put the effort into optimising what you have..

    i had better success forcing a more realistic connect speed and forcing smaller packet sizes etc. the effect for gaming would be a consistant ping to servers of approx 150 to 200 never getting any better..
    but the data throughput was more stable and when id drop a packet or 50 it didnt has as much as a visual loss..

    do a search for tweakmtu, modembooster etc..
