Satellite Internet Connection
Hi,
I've been told that it is possible to connect directly to a sattelite to get internet access. I was interested in a sort of global internet connection for a laptop and was wondering where to look or who to talk to. My parents are moving, and supposedly internet connections are horrible there and wanted an alternative.
Thanks,
agathron

Yes you can get that type of connection. You get a dish that has uplink ability and it connects to a modem (converter) which connects to the system. There are several companies that supply the service, the one I had was Starband. It was a step up from dial up and std. ISDN. But it had issues. With that said, I know where you cand get the equipment, cheap!

Problem is, my folks are going to be in Pakistan, will it still work there?
And where is this wonderous land of cheap computer products?
Thanks,

Don't know if it will work there. Depends on what it can see in orbit. Also, you need to see what is allowed there. The land of cheap uplink dishes would be found by sending me a PM
