Dance of Death in RtCW
Hey guys, the fps market, and pc gaming in general has been going slow lately, so i fired up RtCW with some single player maps made by other people, and i remembered a fault RtCW had with it. When you shoot a guy, he sort of does that stumble/dance of death, but you can't hurt him during this. Ex, if you shoot a guy in the chest, he'll back up, grabbing the area and kind of dancing. During this 5 second thing, you can shoot him, but it won't hurt him. Blood will come out, but if you drop like 10 bullets in him, he won't die. The second his dance is over, he comes right at you, and now you can hurt him.
I know it kind of sounds like nit picking, but when playing the new community made maps, its ridiculous. The guys are hard, but wouldn't be as hard, without the dance of death. Not to mention, their aim is dead on.
Does anyone have any idea how to remove the dance of death?

He is talking about SP, ET is MP. And anyway, in ET you get killed by only a few shots, which makes being a medic so much fun!

I nitpicked on the rtcw stuff I found odd or funny a while back.
RTCW AI
Q3 RTCW
I have never witnessed the actual dance that I can recall, but I have seen states of invincible bots for brief periods of time at certain angles, shooting around corners etc, fulfilling the same tell-tale target elimination requirements but being denied the results thereof.
I love goofy stuff in serious games sometimes.

Well, I've noticed them reeling (I guess this is the dancing) from getting hit, but they still take damage and drop after an expected number of bullets.

Actually, I just saw this thread while I was still in the midst of finishing RTCW. While I never thought about, after you mentioned it, I did take notice that once they are hit, and do this dance of death, that continued rounds didn't do anything until they were done. I actually conserved a lot of ammo once I noticed this.
Very strange.

All enemies or certain ones? I'll have to kill some on the early maps to see how much ammo they take.

The monsters didn't seem to do this, but all of the human enemies seemed to do it.

Yeah, after you hit them like 2-3x in the chest, they go stumbling backwards and you can spend a half clip firing on them without doing damage. What you do is get them to stumble, then aim for the head and wait until the very end of their "dance" and then pop a few rounds.

Awesome.
Damn, this explains why I never had any ammo!
