Bigger HDs with XP
Hey guys, what's this I hear about XP not recoginizing HDs that are larger, and needing SP1 n' all that stuff?

Windows XP may not handle over 137GB hard drives if your BIOS doesn't support it. In that case, you'll need a ultra ata card controller.

what's this i hear about WD saying anythin above 137gb makes disk defrag/scan disk go OJ?

I've never had any problems running CHKDSK (Scan Disk) or defragging my 160GB hard drive.

I have a 160GB and Windows 2000. I needed to install service packs and make a change to my registry, but now Windows recognizes my drive. No problems with defrag or scandisk.

is there anyway i can download XP's SP1, and save the install file to a disk? i wanna distribute it to my other computers that don't have or have slower connections to the internet.

Yes, you want what Microsoft calls the "network installation":
