Is there any possible way to uninstall DX9.0a on Windows 98SE
Is there any possible way to uninstall DX9.0a on Windows 98SE? I can't figure out how to do this.
If not, could I install DirectX 8.1 over DX 9.0a would this "downgrade" my DX version back to 8.1? Is this possible?
I'm having some serious issues with some kids crap 500mhz P3 gateway computer running a GF2 GTS, for some reason ALL OF A SUDDDEN the newest video drivers "stopped working" for some god knows why reason. I've uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled, removed the adapter, reinstalled the drivers, etc etc etc etc etc
Sorry but this "helping some 13 year old" with his crap computer is starting to really annoy me, considering I had it fixed before.
I'm thinking about formatting his sh*t, but I don't want to go through half a day setting his crap back up again.
I got things I need to do besides this, but the kid is clueless about computers and his mommy needs to use the computer also.
Sorry if I sound upset but I need to know anything. DirectX isnt even finding DirectSound/Music (which is another thing I don't want to get into)
I'm smelling format!!!
Anyways, any help would be greatly appriciated...

the inevitable outcome
do note however that 8 times out 10 you will be left with further problems when running a 98 system. usually what you will see, is you uninstall dx9, reinstall dx8 and the performance will be crappy or you will get further errors. dx9 installs more files since it breaks up the dx8 packaged files, so some references will no longer exist for files that were not properly removed during the version 9 uninstall.
something for you to keep in mind if you discover problems, the only way to remedy this is reinstalling directx 9(obviously) or reloading your os.

Thanks guys.
I think I'm just going to format and install XP on the kid's 500mhz P3. Saves me the time. Thanks for the link btw.
