TEAM AWESOME!
Mobo port burnouts?
I have an old motherboard from ASUS, the K7V. I started using a USB mouse/keyboard because after a month or two the system wouldn't respond to a keyboard or mouse being plugged into the PS/2 ports, even after I would vigorously wiggle them around (which sometimes worked). Now, it seems my USB ports on the motherboard do not detect anything either. ASUS was nice enough to send me a little USB connector that fits into a PCI slot but only has 2 USB ports, but I need 3 (I know I could be a USB hub... if thats what thye are called). Do you think there is no detection thru PS/2 or the USB on the motherboard because the ports burned out? The rest of it works fine, but could that be a sign that my motherboard is dying? If so, I think I should get a new one which would lead to an upgrade of a new system heh

I'm having a similar problem... I wasn't able to fix it yet as it occurred about 20 minutes before I left for Florida for two weeks (yeah I'm in Florida right now worrying about my keyboard...)
What had happened was I restarted the computer... and I'm running Windows XP so I was surprised when the shutdown hung... so I manually powered down, powered back up. Upon power-up, I get stuck in the first bootup screen saying it doesn't detect any keyboard. I didn't have time to get my PS2 jack out or test a pure PS2 keyboard so I'm cruising around here looking for similar problems. I'm hoping this isn't an early sign of mobo death... I too have an Asus, much newer though, an A7N8X. If anyone has any input... anything is appreciated. Won't be for another week and a half till I'm back to Cali and my comp, though. Pisses me off too, the computer's less than a month and a half old.
