Can someone please describe this service for me?
I use Windows XP SP-1, and I like to disable alot of services that I don't need.
Anyways, I always wondered about these two services. If anyone knows what they actually do and if it's ok to disable these, it would be greatly appriciated.
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Description:
Provides the endpoint mapper and other miscellaneous RPC services.
and
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator
Description:
Manages the RPC name service database.
Currently I have the second one stopped (not disabled), and I'm doing fine. However, the first one is always enabled.
Can someone please describe to me what these two services actually do? Because the descriptions listed here are quite vague. And if it would be ok to go ahead and disable both of these services.
Thanks.
