    New dell inspriron 8600 out

never liked the dell 8500, this looks great with a pentuim m in it instead of a P4M.

    Graphics Cards

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

nVidia® GeForce FXTM Go5650 video controller with 128MB DDR video memory

nVidia® GeForce4TM 4200 Go video controller with 64MB DDR video memory

ATI® MobilityTM RadeonTM 9000 video controller with 32MB DDR video memory

    What the heck..?
Thought 8600 was reserved for the desktop lines.

Whatever. Maybe in Europe it has a different numbering system.

Forget what I said, I was being an idiot.

Mixed up the desktop and notebook number notations.

Looks to be pretty nice. I'm considering a laptop purchase around xmas time, so hopefully the 8600's will be in the US market by then.

Yeah I just ordered one for ~$2200. Not bad considering it was cheaper than the 8500 lined up despite having a DVD burner instead of DVD/Cd-RW combo drive, a Geforce FX instead of Geforce 4, and a WUXGA instead of WXGA. Now for the painful, painful wait.

Once you get it and have a chance to get an overall opinion of it, could you sort of post a new thread of a mini-review with some pics of the 8600? That would be pretty sweet.

I'll definitely try to put up a nice little mini review of it once its here (oh such a painful wait). It may not be that great as this will be my first laptop but I'll see how it compares to my desktop gamewise and a few other things. I don't have a digital camera but I'll see if I can borrow someones to put up a few pics.
