Streaming over wireless networks
I'm starting to look into wireless networks. I was wondering is 802.11b able to stream mpeg2/divx/xvid? I like to watch movies that are on my main box, but stream them to my laptop.
Also, what are some good routers to look at?
thanks

Not really. I find that my b connection has problems with movies, but not audio. Go g for this application.
If you really want 'em to be a single unit, duct tape your router to your modem. - Skydog 5/5/2005

I have no problem streaming video with my 802.11b - I shouldn't even be close to a problem. Unless your connection speed is well over 3mb/sec download, 802.11b should be plenty fast.

I know i could still stream movies from websites, but i'm saying could i watch a divx, or mpeg2 svcd that is stored on my main box, and watch it on my laptop with 802.11b connection? Thanks for the replys!
