The cool thing is... at work we are carrying Buffa****** ram now . But it's being sold as "generic" 3200, lol! I did inspect a stick myself, and it indeed uses Winbond BH-5 chips . I was thinking of picking up a stick... But I'm not that interested at the moment, hehe .

I shelled out the money for corsair sticks because of their name basically. I got two pc3200 512mb sticks and one or both came doa to me. Corsair sent me a brand new twinx1024-3200c2 kit to replace them. Id say it was worth it.

i go with the good stuff because it is guaronteed to run at the rated speeds at rated timings, and it overclocks well. buffalo tech is a gamble, it may perform well, it may not. ive actually hear more stories of buffalo tech sucking than it performing well.

to sum it all up: corsair/mushkin are not overrated at all, worth every penny. throw in the lifetime warantee and it cant be beaten. not to mention sometimes i dont want to overclock at all, thats when rated speeds count the most.

so my friend wants me to build him a cheap setup and i was going to just buy two crucial 512
but maybe ill save like 20 bucks and go with the buffalo
it looks like the 512s are ch5 and someone here said people were having trouble running those in dual channel. Is that just in overclocking because this system would just run stock all the time its a p4 1.6c

The CH-5 are having trouble o/cing with the RAM dividers on the dual channel boards. Is your friend getting a dual channel board? Or just a single channel one? But in either case, with no o/cing the PC3200 CH-5s will do mighty fine.

    bTW, 1.6C? Those don't exist.

would you recommend 512MB of Geil PC3200 for $78, or 512MB of Buffalo Tech PC3200 for $83? I want to get it at 200MHZ on an nForce 2 board. I'll probly buy another stick of whatever I get later.
