how to flash vid cards

i hear all this talk from every1 about over clocking their vid cards so id like some info about it...when i get a 9600 pro (which may not be soon, no money )
so how do u over clock a vid card? (w/o using accompanying software cuz i know radeon has some OC'ing software for it and all)
what is flashing the bios and how does that work with overclocking?
is the stock HSF gonna be good with the card after OC or do i need a new HSF (like OC'ing a cpu)?
i guess thats all i need to know...or is it? if u have more info do tell!

fisrt off, you should get omega drivers because they have an integraded overclocking utility and all that good stuff

the stock HSF on your gpu is alright... i usually have an 80mm fan blowing on my card while i bench on 3dmark to keep the temps down but you can get some decent clocks when just using the stock cooling
