    aim file transfer

if both people using aim have a router, they can't seem to share files. is there a way to open ports on your router to be able to share with people that have routers? or do both parties have to configure the router. i have tried opening ports 4443 and 5190-5193, but to no avail. i have even set my computer to the dmz host, but still no luck. i can send files over aim to people without a router, but none with one. so can i assume both people have to open the ports on their router? thanks!

i know that aim has a beta version with the fix for this, but i dont want to get a beta version of aim.

I have the same problem. Someone, please answer the question if you can!

Hmm that's wierd. I'm behind a Linksys and I've shared files before. Hell, just the other day I sent PincyCM a whole CD encoded at 320kbps. I know for a fact I didn't do any tweaking, but I'm not sure if he did

Have you upgraded to the latest version of AIM, they have made it a lot easier to connect in the newer version. I'd say 5.0+

From what i hear people with same routers are able to transfer files. Just the other day i sent a file to my brother and we both had same router and it worked but when i tried to send it to my cousin that had a netlink router it showed that %user was behind a firewall diffrent from yours. . .
Well that was what i noticed.
