    2 PC's to share 1 printer

this printer has both parallel and usb ports

will having one PC use the parallel and the other the usb at the same time work? [these 2 PC's are right next to each other]

any disadvantages of doing this versus other methods?

    thanks

Unless the printer disables one of the interfaces when the other is in use, this is possible. I have done it on more than one occasion in the lab at work.

It is very possible. If the 2 comps are networked, then just put the printer on sharing. I have that on 2 comps both running win xp

on the computer with the printer installed... START > SETTINGS > PRINTER
right click on the printer and goto sharing and share the printer on the network....

on the other computers on the network that want to access the printer (make sure they all have the same workgroup name)... install the drivers for the printer.. the app might ask you if the printer is networked.. if it does, follow the directions.. if it doesnt, after installing... goto START > SETTINGS >PRINTER... and click on ADD A PRINTER.. follow directions
