Cannot upgrade ME to Win2k on Inspiron

A friend gave me a Dell Inspiron 7000 to upgrade Millenium to Windows 2000. I chose to convert Fat32 to NTFS...seems to have converted fine. After rebooting and windows started loading the setup, screen goes black about half way through and then nothing else.

    Help?!

Hmm, is the data important on the drive?

Go into safe mode and use system restore.
I recommend partition the HD and move all the important data to one. Then reformat the partition where the OS will go and do a clean install of Win2k.

I believe that you cannot upgrade ME to win2k, because win2k is actually older than ME.

    Yup ^...

It's better to just do a clean install. As Microsoft puts it: "Upgrading Windows Millennium Edition (Me) to Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional has not been tested for full feature functionality and is not a supported upgrade path."
