Just started SW:KOTOR.
Man, this game is too cool. I'm already looking forward to going thru it again with "Klashe Kintaro" on the dark side.
I just got a wookie in my party. Let me tell you, NO star wars game is complete unless you have a 8 foot brown rug watchin' yo back.
I'm still stuck on the initial planet though, Taris, 5 hours in. Granted, I am doing all the miniquests but when the hell do I get off this Sith Scum infested planet?
Also, do ALL classes (scout, warrior, scoundrel, etc...) get force powers later in the game? Or do i have to pick certain attributes to focus on? I want to be sure that I build my guy up correctly so he can unleash Force Fireballs from Hell or something later in the game.

i was thinking about getting this game but im not a fan of rpg games. the thing is, people are telling me even if you dont like rpg games but love starwars (which i do) i should get it. is it good enough to get an rpg hater playing this game?

I finished it once and I am going through it again. Lots to play for and the plot is top notch imo. I was like OMG. I love the game and it is advisable to everyone. Not just a normal rpg.

You have to go into the Sith base to get off the planet. Don't go there until you're ready to leave though.
Every class gets force powers. Actually, that's just your base class, once you become a jedi you have a whole new set off classes to choose from. Scout, Warrior, Scoundrel only applies to all non-jedi attribtes, while the jedi classes determine if you want to focus more on force powers (lightning, cure...) or force feats (force focus, jedi sense...)

To clarify a bit on what 20NemesiS01 said, assuming you're familiar with D&D or d20 RPGs, a point will come where you will dual class to a Jedi class. At that point, you'll have another 3 choices- Guardian, Sentinel, and Consular, which roughly conform to Soldier, Scout, and Scoundrel. You can mix and match your classes if you wish (i.e., Soldier + Sentinel or something works as well as Soldier + Guardian)

This game is definately not the normal rpg. I'm not much into rpgs myself but I'm on my second time through(dark side this time) and the game still has me obsessed. The small party size (max of 2 companions) and ability to let things run real-time make this game much more action oriented than any rpg that I've seen. I highly recommend it.
Klashe, if you just got the wookie then you've still got quite a bit to do on Taris. I'd say your about halfway depending on how many of the sub-quests you've completed or will complete.

!!!!Spoilers!!!!
Well I have the game for PC and once you have it setup not to develop its memory leak (software mouse problem the game has), it actually is a fun game to play. You have to go talk to this merc in one of the aboveworld bars (forgot his name but he is cool and joins you) and he will arrange for you to get off the craptastic world known as Taris. In the end I stopped playing cause the storyline has one of those stupid "You've been captured...no escape and find all your equipment," missions and I was never able to find half my stuff. I will probably start another game soon once I know how much work and homework I am going to have this semester.

Adding to Drif73r's "spoiler."
It wasn't really hard to find all your stuff, there's an equipment room where they hold everything. The only annoying part is re-equiping everyone.

NO MORE SPOILERS!
Anyways, I finally rescued that Jedi Woman. She's a little sassy but hot, so that's okay.
Now I just have to get off this damn planet...
