Pardon me for making a generality. Of course not everyone in OT was a spammer, but in the last month of OT's existance it was extremely common (in my experience) to come across a topic, whose contents had nothing to do with the title, and whose pages had nothing to do with eachother. Sure, every once in awhile there would be an interesting discussion, but more often (see in general), it would be a crap on crap increase-your-post-count fest.

And what do you call people who say, "my goal is to reach 5000 posts by tuesday"? spammers. At least that's what I call them. Because they've made it their prime goal to increase their post-count irregardless of what they might have to say.

Sarge - I spent quite a bit of time in OT; I joined early on as well...I just didn't value OT like others did. I respect the fact that people felt they had deep meaningful relationships from it (*cough* - excuse me). Had the closing happened 4 months earlier, I'd be *****ing too...But it happened during OT's downward slope into the relm of crap, and I can understand why they closed it.

Recon - not too many, I didn't join SF to increase my post, I joined because it's a wonderful resource for computer-related issues. I stopped frequenting OT during the last few months because I felt it was going down the poop chute.

Pred - of course those people mean something to me, they're the more respectable members who would post when they had something to say. I wish they had been the majority, then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

And folks, I value discussion much more than endless crap posts. That's where my priorities lie. Please don't get all pissed and start burning me in effigy, because that's really trite and pointless. If you have a point to make, then state it, if you just want to attack, then you're essentially saying, "I have no point" and your showing SF the kind of people who caused OT to go down in the first place.

First off I would like to state that I wasn't going to get out of hand (it's not my style). Sorry if you took it in a bad way.
I should have refrased my sentence.

And I agree that having a Thread that said " first one to 5000" is a spammer thread, but did you stop to see who they where (a smal number of posters who where heading for a BAN or 2).

And these ppl SPAMed all over the place and NOT just OT.

And I have seen some that was asking for a BAN but didn't get one (why not, don't ask me), and to clarify I don't mean YOU ( as far as I know you haven't been SPAMing).

You should have said "IN MY OPINION".
When you left that out you made alot of ppl , who have NOTHING to do with SPAM, angry because it seamed that you where saying that ALL ppl at OT are SPAMMERS.
