NullPointerException
64-bit .NET
So I've got a new A64 system. I was hoping to run XP 64-bit as the main OS, but it's just not stable enough. So I'm dual booting Win2k and will have the 64-bit OS for app testing. Can't wait to run some Java and .NET benchmarks.
But the point of this thread is just a note: if you're planning on installing the 64-bit version of .NET and Java, both are betas of the next platform version (.NET v2 and JDK 1.5) -- there don't seem to be 64-bit downloads for the current versions. Of course, you can run the 32-bit versions too.
If you're going to install these things, make sure you leave some time for the .NET install. Essentially, the installer builds the 64-bit native base class libraries. Which takes a while even on a 3200+.

It's only when you look at an ant through a magnifying glass on a sunny day that you realise how often they burst into flames.
