    Help with Pop ups

My grandmother wanted to get internet service this year so we got it for her. She is 84 years old. I got her Netzero for free and the problem is that there are so many pop ups that it confuses her. She winds up having to click out of at least 5-10 pop up every time she boots the computer to the net. I need to get something for her that will block all of these from happening. Please recommend a good pop up blocker for her and netzero.

And you are sure this isnt a question about your computer that was infected by pornography use?

I just use the google blocker that comes with the google bar.

Also, if you get SP2 for xp in there, it comes with an integrated blocker. Use both, or just one...

Popups should not just appear like that, it indicates spyware and such, which further indicates P2P and-or pornography. You need to use both spybot and adaware on there, and immunize and keep on full time web page blocking. And make sure there is a virus scanner running full time, like avg.

If she's getting popups when the computer boots, there's definately a spyware/adware problem. Run ad-aware, get rid of Internet Explorer icons, and install Firefox (and show her how to use it).

That should take care of things without much work on her part.
