Post Need some help, system wont stay on

The bottom line is my computer wont stay on for more then 1 or 2 seconds after I push the power button. The lights will blink and the fans will start then after about a second everything turns off.

For a detailed explaination check out my previous post: http://www.sharkyforums.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/017760.html

I've pretty much ruled out the power supply and the RAM. I also went back and made sure all connections were solid and secure. It's starting to bug me because I think I may have simply given a bad value in the BIOS but I've dumped the CMOS (took out the battery, used the jumper to dump it) but that doesn't seem to help and I've tried it several times. Since it's only turning on for 1-2 seconds I'm thinking it's either a hardware problem or a BIOS setting problem. I really don't think it's a hardware problem but dumping the CMOS doesn't seem to do anything to help

BTW, it's a 300W PS and an Abit KT7-RAID mobo

Just a wild guess here, but perhaps try a different wall outlet. That has happened to me before. One of them was just screwed up. It's a shot in the dark but you never know. On the probability side though I would guess mobo if you're sure its not psu or ram.

That is definitely odd... I second the opinion of a bad mobo

I just tried 2 different outlets and got the same problem from them. Do you really think it could be the motherboard? I've had this system for over a year now and it has always run great, I've never had a problem from this mobo or even any sign (other then this) of a problem from the mobo.

Question, what happens when the CMOS battery dies?

Any more help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated

What did you do to rule out the PS? It sounds like a PS problem to me.

Yea, I had a bad PS in one of my pc's here at work, and that is Exactly what it did. Did you ever do what you said you were gonna in the other post and try another PS, if not I highly recommend it.

try unplugging the power switch connection on the notherboard, and use a jumper pin to turn the pc on maybe the power switch is bad?
you could set the default power value to alway on so the pc boots as soon as power is applied?
check that the cpu fan is connected maybe it came loose and the mb is shutting down because of temperature.
remove pci cards one by one, cheap modems cause many problems.
try a different ps,or ram chip to see if these are the culprits, good luck, let us know what happens.
