Question HP DV1000 Laptop which config to get - Advice

Here's my dilemma. Both laptop's have the same specs except for the CPU and Memory.

    1st Config

    HP DV1000 Series Laptop NEW (1 Year Warranty by HP) with a Pentium M 1.7GHz w/ 512MB PC2700 (2 x 256MB SO-DIMM)
    Price: $1188.99 After $50 Mail-In Rebate

    2nd Config
    HP DV1000 Series Laptop Refurbished (1 Year Warranty by HP) with a Pentium M 1.4GHz w/ 2GB PC2700 (2 x 1024MB SO-DIMM
    Price: $1330.00 No Rebate

Laptop will be used for web development and small work amount web design.
Applications that will be use: Visual Basic .Net / Photoshop CS / Flash MX 2004 / Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Microsoft Word, Excel, Access 2003 Edition

Any advice on this laptop config?
P.S.: I'm looking for this laptop to last me about 2 years

I would opt for the second configuration with more memory. From 1.4Ghz to 1.7Ghz, you'll probably notice very little.

The only thing I'd be leary about is it's Refurbished.

    That's what thought.
Plus I like the 2GB Memory config. better becase the 64MB Video is shared and Photoshop is a memory killer.

When it comes to notebooks, it's not a bad idea to consider an extended warranty. But I don't think you can get one on a refurb notebook, however.

But yeah, for the extra $141 for the second model I'd think the amount of RAM would be better for you. And while you can get more RAM for a notebook aftermarket, you can't get 2GB for $141, that's for sure!

still, I would go with the new one - I would never get a lappy without a warranty. Also, a 1.7 is actually a lot faster. For the price difference, you can get at least another gig of laptop memory, and 1.5gb is plenty for any application, if not overkill.
