    Portable DVD player or Laptop?

Prices for large screen (10") players are almost the cost of basic laptops. I really don't need all the capabilities of a laptop but for a few $ more, why not?

That's my question: Can I get a good laptop with a DVD drive and reasonable battery life for about what I'd spend on a DVD player?

    Thanks,
    John

check out the dv1000 from HP, starts at $750, upgrade the battery for like $40 and you'll have a nice DVD player. It has the quickplay thing so you can play DVDs without a full boot so it'll probably give you better battery life than anything else you'll find.
