    Lookin at laptops and need help with gfx

    ATI Mobility x300 hypermemmory 64mb
    vs
    ATI Mobility x300 PCI-express


    how much faster is the x300 PCI-Express?
    how well can say.... half-life 2 run on these cards?

    are there any laptops out there with X700 ATI gfx for under $800?

    What laptops are you looking at? I bet they are the same card.

    Half life 2 wouldn't run very well on those cards.

    You can get a Compaq V4000T for $850 with a X700.

    it was on dell.com... the upgrade for the X300 hypermem was only $35 more while the PCI-express version was $100 more

    and is that Compaq V4000T a good laptop?

    My mistake, I would go with the PCI-E X300 128mb out of the two. The 'Hypermemory' model doesn't have dedicated VRAM, while the other one does.

    I don't have a Compaq V4000T, so I can't say anything specific, but the specs and the price look good.
