    Post SBLive is way unstable...

I finally got my Sound Blaster Live! working, but now it is way too unstable. It makes my computer lockup almost every single time when i install Diablo2 and it makes my computer lock up when that starting wav file plays. It is odd though, most of the time my computer is fine when I play music through winamp or napster. This is very frustrating though, what can i do? I have installed the latest drivers for my card and have tried running it on 3 differnt irqs...

    Try the newest live ware?

Try dropping it in differnt PCI slots.

I already did both of those... The guy on the phone at tech support said to reset my BIOS so that i can fix all my messed up IRQ data. He told me it was one big IRQ conflict he couldnt help with over the phone. Does this sound right to anyone?

P.S. How do i disable IRC Steering without having my NIC card stop working?

I was under the impression that for every PCI device in the system, Windows required an IRQ steering device, due to the resource-sharing nature of PCI slots...

I just posted this same answer on another thread, but here goes.

Go into the bios , into "PnP/PCI Configurations", and make sure "PNP OS Installed" is set to "yes". Change "Reset Configuration Data" to "Enabled", and "Resources Controlled By" is set to "Auto(ESCD).

This will allow the bios to sort out any conflicts and reset the stored database.

Thanks for your help and time everyone, but now upon second inspection, I think it is my videocard that is lockingup, not my soundcard (heh heh heh).
